This annual event, which symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and hope over despair, reflects EY’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where every culture is valued and celebrated.
EY’s people in Guernsey and Jersey came together to enjoy traditional Indian cuisine, Henna artistry, and beautifully decorated spaces that captured the spirit of Diwali. Many also wore traditional clothing, adding colour and authenticity to the celebrations. The festivities were not only an opportunity to share cultural traditions but also to strengthen connections across teams. In Guernsey, the event included a charity initiative raising funds for Safer, a local organisation supporting those affected by domestic abuse.
Daniel Luwun, EY Assurance Partner and DEI Champion, shared: “At EY, we believe that diversity and belonging are fundamental to building a better working world. Celebrations like Diwali allow us to honour the rich cultural heritage within our teams and create an environment where everyone feels respected and included. As a local employer, EY is proud to champion inclusion and belonging, ensuring that our workplace reflects the diverse communities we serve. Thank you to all our colleagues who made this event possible and to everyone who joined in the celebrations.”
Kanchan Khantwal, Assurance Senior and Guernsey event organiser, explained: “It was wonderful to see colleagues from all backgrounds come together to celebrate Diwali. Events like this help build a true feeling of belonging across the firm.”
Rishan, Assurance Senior and Jersey event organiser, concluded: “In so many cultures, food is central to bringing family and friends together. It’s great to put on event that supports the sense of community in our office that everyone enjoys so much.”
EY hosts in-office Diwali celebrations each year and would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with other organisations for joint events in 2026. If you’re interested, please contact Margo Blondel at mblondel@uk.ey.com.
