President Trump has imposed a 10% tariff on all countries, effective April 5, 2025, and reciprocal tariffs at varying levels on individual countries with which the United States “has the largest trade deficits,” set to take effect April 9, 2025. Reciprocal tariffs are slated for countries such as Brazil, China, Japan and Malaysia, among others. While some carve-outs exist, these tariffs represent a sweeping change to trade policy.
