EY Americas FSO Cyber Leader

Cyber Leader for EY Americas. Experienced in helping design and deliver global security strategies and operations in IDM, compliance, resilience, cybercrime; and responding to breaches and incidents.

As the EY Americas Cyber Leader for Financial Services, Steve works with clients to help design, build and manage complex cybersecurity programs. He brings particular knowledge in how firms can more effectively implement their cyber resiliency, satisfy regulatory requirements and engage people in the process, recognizing they are key to effective cyber solutions.

Prior to joining EY, Steve was the EY Asia-Pacific Cyber Leader for another Big 4 firm, creating an integrated team of IT security, IT risk and Forensic technology professionals across the region. He also led the Australian Risk Practice.

Steve holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australia, and a degree in Psychology and Industrial Relations from the University of Sydney.

How Steve is building a better working world

With 30 years of experience, Steve has helped clients in 28 countries design and articulate their cyber strategy, transform and deliver their security operations, manage incidents and breaches, prepare and respond to regulatory inquiries, and assist with Board and employee engagement through training and awareness. Other experiences include supervising numerous large-scale Identify and Access Management programs and building a secure communications system for a 5-nation international military and law enforcement consortium.

Steve helped build Australia’s National Cyber Strategy by linking the public and private sectors to establish Australia’s network of Joint Cyber Security Centers.  In addition, he raised awareness of STEM and cyber education opportunities for high schoolers. 

He has presented on various cyber topics to global audiences including the World Economic Forum and has been a regular media commentator in print, television and radio.
