Steven Jacobs

US-East Region Professional Practice Director, Ernst & Young LLP

Former Senior Staff at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Seasoned advisor with decades of experience on technical accounting and financial reporting matters impacting public companies.

Steven serves as a Professional Practice Director in the US-East Region, where he works with engagement teams to resolve complex accounting issues and execute high-quality audits.

Steven previously served as the EY Americas Director of SEC Regulatory Matters and Capital Markets Leader – Professional Practice, where he oversaw the development and issuance of publications and other guidance on SEC rules and regulations. Steven also served as the Chair of the Center for Audit Quality’s SEC Regulations Committee and International Practices Task Force, as well as the AICPA’s Annual Conference during this time. Over his 14-year EY career, Steven has also served Fortune 500 audit clients as an engagement quality review partner.

Prior to joining the firm, Steven was the Associate Chief Accountant in the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance.  

Steven earned a Bachelor of Science from Tulane University. He is a certified public accountant in the District of Columbia and Virginia. 

How Steven is building a better working world

Steven serves as an advisor on audit, financial reporting and regulatory matters, including SEC rules and regulations, to help build trust and confidence in the capital markets. He leverages his deep technical knowledge and decades of experience to help EY people and clients navigate and address these complex matters.

Outside of work, Steven serves on the board of Shepherd’s Table to help people in need become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life through programs that address food insecurity and homelessness. He also volunteers as the coach of the Bethesda Roosters Rugby Club, where he teaches students the value of teamwork.
