Claire Mazumdar | Bicara Therapeutics | Boston, Massachusetts

Bicara Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to bringing transformative bifunctional therapies to patients with solid tumors. Our lead program, ficerafusp alfa, is a bifunctional antibody that combines two clinically validated targets, an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) directed monoclonal antibody with a domain that binds to human transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β). Through this dual-targeting mechanism, ficerafusp alfa has the potential to exert potent anti-tumor activity by simultaneously blocking both cancer cell-intrinsic EGFR survival and proliferation, as well as the immunosuppressive TGF-β signaling within the tumor microenvironment. Ficerafusp alfa is initially being developed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, where there remains a significant unmet need.

Siva Namasivayam | Cohere Health | Boston, Massachusetts

Prior authorization (PA) is a complex, often manual process to show that care is medically appropriate and to ultimately improve patient outcomes. Frustrations often arise around PA-associated care delays and admin burden; in an annual AMA PA survey, 93% of physicians reported care delays associated with PA. For innovative health plans seeking to improve PA, intelligent prior authorization solutions can help. By automating and simplifying outdated processes, these solutions can support health plans’ efforts to improve care quality and costs. Cohere’s platform goes beyond approving or denying authorization requests. Using AI/ML, predictive analytics, and robust clinical expertise, we help providers deliver more personalized, efficient care. Intelligent prior authorizations enable health plans to move away from transactional processes and toward a more comprehensive, valuable approach that improves care and outcomes and creates a better PA process. Cohere is unique in offering both a licensed platform-as-a-service (PaaS) intelligent PA solution and a fully delegated utilization management (UM) solution, which offer health plans the flexibility to support in-house processes and/or outsource UM operations for specific specialties.
