Darrell Bontes

Darrell is a partner for Ernst & Young LLP in the EY Global Compliance and Reporting services and has over 20 years of experience working with senior corporate executives, entrepreneurs, private equity investors, and senior tax professionals. As a Global Client Service Partner and EY Global Tax Account Leader for many Ottawa-based companies, Darrell leads client relationships and EY teams across all service lines to support companies with their growth agendas and priorities.

Darrell provides high-value professional services to growth-oriented public and private companies across a number of industries. He advises companies on the tax-effective structuring and financing of acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, expansion within Canada and globally, and tax reporting and compliance requirements.

Darrell is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and the Canadian Tax Foundation. Darrell holds a Bachelor of Arts, Honours Chartered Accountancy and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Waterloo.

Darrell is passionate about helping the next generation of tax professionals reach their potential and give back to the community. Darrell has led the EY United Way initiatives in Ottawa for a number of years. He leads the EY Ripples Task Force in Ottawa, an EY corporate responsibility program, focused on scaling impact entrepreneurs, supporting the next generation and the environment.
